My journey as a reading interventionist began with an amazing reading specialist who transformed how I saw reading in 2nd grade. What once felt scary became fun, and with her help, my confidence grew. School didn’t come easily—I had to work hard—but that experience taught me the power of encouragement and the difference one supportive educator can make.
Fast forward 22 years..
After years in the classroom, I realized it was possible to make a bigger impact working one-on-one with students, becoming the kind of cheerleader I once needed. My specialized career began as a remote team member of Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, where I worked with students using their unique reading intervention programs. Wanting to expand my toolkit, I later completed training in the Orton-Gillingham approach through IMSE for grades K–5.
With both programs under my belt, I launched my own business—combining the strengths of each program to create highly personalized instruction tailored to each student’s needs. Today, I work with students across Northern Virginia, both in person and remotely, helping them build skills and confidence through patient, engaging, research-based reading support.
I’m currently pursuing my second master’s degree in Literacy Education at Radford University to deepen my knowledge and better serve my students. Every child learns differently, and my mission is to join them on their literacy path via patience, skill, and belief in their potential.
